Students selected to participate in the Roseville High School Girls Volleyball Program, you will have an opportunity to grow and develop as an athlete on the court and prepare you for lifelong skills you can apply in the classroom and beyond. These lifelong skills include teamwork, management, leadership, motivation, collaboration, and many other skills. The coaching team will expect you to give your best at all times and demonstrate good sportsmanship and being the best teammate you can be. 

During tryouts and the season, players will be assessed on the following skill areas:

  1. Technical Ability - Includes the athlete's passing, serving, hitting/attacking, defensive, game-play intelligence, etc. 
  2. Motivation - Includes the athlete's ability to motivate herself and others on the team.
  3. Manageability - Includes the ability to be managed on the team (i.e., includes playing different positions) and how they accept guidance or direction.
  4. Coachability - Includes the ability to be coached during practice or games and ability to apply the guidance or direction. 
  5. Collaboration - Includes the ability to get along and work with the team at all times.
  6. Grades - Students must meet grading requirements established by the school and CIF.

 

Athletic Clearance

All RHS athletes wanting to participate in CIF sponsored sports over the summer or during the regular school year, MUST register and complete the Athletic Clearance process on-line through Home Campus. Athletes must be cleared before participating in a sport, including tryouts each school year. For the 2024-2025 school year, applications open 5/16/24 and sports physicals must be dated on or after 5/15/24. Sports clearances will be done through 6/14/24 and will start again 7/15/24. No clearances will be done 6/16/24 through 7/12/24. Please visit the RHS Athletic Clearance Process page for information and instructions to complete the sports clearance.

 

Team and Coaches Captain Selections

At the beginning of the season, each team will select two team captains to lead and represent the team. The coaches may select an additional captain to provide additional support for the team. All team captains should demonstrate good decision making, leadership, and the skill areas in the previous section. Team captains will have opportunities to represent the team at alternate events (i.e., section team breakfast or lunch events).
